Fellowship Program

The NAAWLI, Inc. Leadership Program, with its focus on fundamental leadership strategies, provides rising African-American women employees, volunteers, entrepreneurs and managers the opportunity to identify and reinforce their strengths and develop proactive strategies and behaviors to make high-quality impact in the organizations in which they are employed and the communities in which they live and serve.

How are objectives achieved?

Program objectives are achieved by participation in three sessions totaling 13 days and spanning six months. The sessions take the most current leadership research and theories and guide the Fellows through best practices and behaviors to implement those theories.

The Institute uses surveys, assessment tools, formal instruction, branding workshops, cohort group discussions, wellness training and one-on-one interaction with subject matter experts to assist Fellows in becoming successful and effective leaders today and tomorrow.

What are your admissions requirements?

To ensure a rich learning experience for participants, admission to the NAAWLI Leadership Program is selective and based on professional achievement and organizational responsibility. We carefully select leaders from around the country with diverse backgrounds and experiences. This approach enables participants to enhance their management effectiveness by leveraging the experience of their peers.

What is company sponsorship?

Fellows representing corporations are traditionally sponsored by their employers. Corporate sponsors agree to pay all tuition fees and are responsible for meeting payment deadlines. Fellows are responsible for travel and all other expenses.

What is the process for obtaining sponsorship from my company?

You should identify a senior executive within your company to serve as your company advocate. This individual should be named on your application. As sponsor, they are involved in your learning development and will ensure that you will be free from your official duties during the program, as well as ensure company payment of tuition.

This Organization Sponsorship Agreement form should be completed by the individual authorized by the organization to grant sponsorship to the applicant. The organization understands that the support of its employee during the NAAWLI Leadership Program is a critical factor in the successful completion of the program. If the employee is accepted into the NAAWLI Leadership Program, the organization agrees to do the following during the program duration:

“Release the employee from work on all workshop days, which include three 3-4-day sessions in Dallas, Texas.” Ensure that the employee’s business commitments will not conflict with the required onsite sessions.

In addition, this program requires that the sponsor completes a Sponsoring Statement as part of the application process. This statement provides the Admissions Committee with a better understanding of your background, roles and potential as a leader. Upon receipt of your application, the Admissions Committee will email the executive a link to an online Sponsoring Statement form. This Sponsoring Statement must be completed before the committee will review your application.
